Bisle Ghat | Trekking in Western Ghats

Bisle Ghat is situated in Western Ghats and borders Hassan disctrict in Karnataka. A beautiful mountain range and forest reserve , this place is nestled between Kukke Subrahmanya and Sakleshpura. Forest department has built a view point in forest range and offers splendid view of three mountain ranges – Yenikallu Betta (1112 m) , Doddabetta (1119 m) and Pushpagiri (1712 m) and Kumaraparvatha (1319 m).

Visiting Bisle Ghat makes a great thrilling experience. This can be a perfect weekend escape from busy and noisy city life. Weather 

Summer days can be hot in Bisle village and nearby area. Maximum temperature can go upto 35 C and minimum temperature remains around 18 – 20 C . Winters bring best of Bisle ghat and one can enjoy a pleasant temperature of 15 C to 28 C. During monsoon expect heavy rainfalls so be prepared for that with raincoats and umbrellas.

Best time to visit 

Bisle ghat can be visiting any time of the year. To enjoy the best of this western ghat trek one should go just after monsoon during August to November.

We will reach Manali on Thursday morning and will get lodged into a hotel soon after. Long and tiring overnight mountain-hopping journey will induce the sleep thus we will meet in the evening to give you an orientation of the program and give you ample time to wander around the bustling lanes of Manali.

Day 02 – 3 October – Friday

Soon after breakfast, we will take the winding road uphill towards Rohtang pass and then take the road onwards towards Lahual valley.From verdant green pine forest, endless apple orchards, the landscape will transport arid with snow-capped mountains and glacier on both sides.In between, we will take pit-stops for occasional tea and photography.

We will make to Chandra-Tal before the dusk and camp overnight close to the lake bed.Situated at an elevation of 14100 feet, the lake of Chandra-Tal reflects splendid colors as sun comes up or drops by.

Day 03 – 4 October – Saturday

Morning will offer you an opportunity to capture remarkable shots under ideal lights. After roaming around the lake and breakfast, we will take leave from Chandra-Tal to drive further towards Spiti Valley. We will cross over Kunzum and stop at the little village of Losar before heading further to Key Monastery, the largest Gompa of Spiti Valley.  Our day will conclude in Rangrik which sits on the bank of river Spiti.

Day 04 – 5 October – Sunday

Day will involve village hopping to Langza and Komic, highest villages of India. Environs of Langza are rich with fossils of marine life thus might engross you for quite sometime. Herd of sheep grazing, tumbling over the endless green of pastures will turn a visual treat, and all overlooked by towering snow-capped mountains.Sitting at an elevation of 6303 meters, magnificent Chau Chau Khang Nalda, which literally mean the” mountain-princess”gets frequently adorned by sun and moon shine and might tempt you to stay here forever.

Day 05 – 6 October – Monday

Soon after breakfast, we will say bid-adieu to the village of Langza and proceed our journey further to Dhankar monastery whose precarious and precipitous standing looks so fragile as if it will virtually fall on you.Moderate hike to Dhankar Lake would be an added attraction of the day and will offer an opportunity to take wide-angle shots of popular confluence of Pin and Spiti. In the evening, we will head back to Rangrik, to the placid bank of limpid Spiti.

Day 06 – 7 October – Tuesday

We will take the same road in reverse crossing over Kunzum and then Rohtang to reach Manali. Ever changing horizon outside the window seat won’t let you recede into reminiscence mode.

Day 07 – 8 October – Wednesday

After breakfast, we will disperse to our respective destinations.

  • Accommodation in a hotel in Manali (Day 1 and Day 6), Camping in Chandra Tal (On day 2), hotel in Rangrik (On Day 3 and Day 5) and Homestay in Langza (On day 4).

A walk through Malana village in Himachal

Set amongst lush green Himalayan flora , A trek to Malana village takes you to veritable paradise of Himalayan valleys and dramatic landscapes filled with high altitude snow capped mountains and ancient villages of isolated tribes.  This trek gives you the opportunity to visit fabled Malana village which inherits the most unusual customs and rituals which are said to come with lineage of Alexander the great.

The fun starts from day one when you get into our riverside tents . Freshen up and enjoy delicious breakfast. As you have travelled throughout night, we reserve first day for local sightseeing at a leisurely pace. Guests are free to stroll around hippy Kasol town and check out various restuarents which serve various Indian and iserailes delicacies. Kasol is a very popular destination amongh foreign tourists, giving you ample chance to interact with different nationals. In evening we will have dinner and retire for bed after you enjoy riverside bonfire and music.

 

Day  2

Next morning after having breakfast, we drive upto the Malana village gate from where our trek starts. We will start trekking upto Malana village which will be a moderate hike of 3 -4 hours taking you through Rhododendron trees and patches of dense forest. During this walk you will get to know the legends of Malana village by our tour guide. Once we reache Malana we will have a walk through the village. We will continue our trek and head towards pictureaque Magic valley which is some 10 Kms from Malana. We will stay in tents and enjoy food while listening folklores from our guide who is a great storyteller.

 

Day  3

After breakfast we will pack our stuff and leave for Waichin valley. Panoramic view on the way are mermerising and will leave you wanting more.

 

The pleasant climb leads through thick pine and Deodar (cedar) forest to spots with panoramic views of the surrounding snow ranges of Deotibba and Chandrakhani mountains .We will have plenty of time for bird watching and training our cameras on most scenic Himalayan mountain ranges . We will camp in Waichin for the night. We will retire to our beds after having dinner besides bonfire.

 

Day  4

We will have our breakfast at a leisurely pace while chitchatting with friends and fellow travellers. We will have plenty of time to satiate our souls with serene views of Waichin valley. You are free to have a small walk in woods to capture wildlife moments. We will head for a 4 KM descend before afternoon. Our vehicle will be waiting at the end of this descent which will take to the nearest Bhuntar. Our beautiful yet never to forget journey ends here as you catch your respective buses back to Delhi.
